Buuut... A Sailor Senshi Maker!.

I blame [livejournal.com profile] mithen and her amazing Sailor Bat. That's all I have to say.

Sailor Krypton! )

Okay, that's that. Going to bed. Really. Honestly.

Night!

Right! So! I am, well, as most people who follow my journals in any capacity probably know, a tag wrangler for Archive of Our Own. What with Yuletide driving us crazy (in a good way, honest! ;)) lately, we've been getting a bit more publicity. (Which is kind of awesome! Because lord knows we need more wranglers! XD) However, as much description as has been given as to what exactly it is that we wranglers get up to, nothing quite manages to sum it up as well as seeing the interface and the steps and the stuff that we do!

So... I've decided to make a few posts showing off! And I've just finished the first one!

I will be calling them... Wrangling 101.

If you have no desire to see the inner workings of the Wrangulator, please, feel free to skip this post. If you're on dial-up, and this will kill your connection... definitely feel free to skip this post because...

Rather Long and Extremely Image Heavy Description of Some AO3 Tag Wrangling Behind the Cut! )

.... And that is my first little mini-demonstration of tag wrangling. It gives you a general idea of the interface and some of the tools that we have at our disposal (TICKY BOXES! SPREADSHEETS! :D :D :D), and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions about anything I have up. (I'm fairly sure some other wranglers would be more than willing to chime in as well.)

If everyone likes this one enough, I'll probably have more similar lessons for such things as wrangling stuff inside a fandom. Characters, pairings, etc., etc. But really? That's more than enough for now. Hope you found it interesting! :D
dizmo: Comic sound effect-like 'NERD!' (misc: nerd!)
Okay. First thing's first.

MANY. MANY. MAAAAAAANY thanks to [livejournal.com profile] amatara for the fabulous Bearing Witness which OMG YOU SHOULD HAVE READ ALREADY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU IF YOU HAVEN'T.

Um. Yes, anyway. Yes! Thank you! You wrote a brilliant fic, thank you thank you thank you.

Now... for the two I wrote.

First for my original assignment: For [livejournal.com profile] andraste, I wrote A Letter, Delivered by a Raven, to a Small Cottage in the Elven Village of Ivyleaf, Home of an Apprentice Baker. Probably the longest title I've ever used for a fanfic ever. XD It's Order of the Stick fic! Which... well, if you're not familiar with that particular webcomic, go and avail yourself of it, because it's awesome. If you are, it's a letter written by V. Which... led to some interesting moments when I was like... must be more unnecessarily wordy! Chop chop! :) It was very fun to write and the prompt was kind of great.

Second, for the pinch hit I managed to nab and... well, I got a rather enthusiastic reaction.

For [personal profile] melannen, one of the seven fics she got for the same prompt, aaaah!, Packet Switching. Anthropomorfic. Fandom/LJ, Fandom/DW. Awesome prompt, spawned lots of awesome fic, and I have to say I'm actually kind of ridiculously fond of mine, so... yay! :D

That was so fun. Is it next yuletide yet? :b
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (other - holy carp)
Don't want to further strain the AO3 servers at the moment by posting a comment, although I will later...

Yuletide author? How is it you know me better than I know myself? Because... oh my GOD, I literally had to remind myself to breathe after I finished reading my story. It was just... wonderful and sweet and misty-eye-making and... awesome, and the complete epitome of everything I asked for in that prompt.

I'm STILL grinning, in fact.

That being said...

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of Babylon 5? Go now and read Bearing Witness.

It's Vir... oh, it's everything that makes Vir Vir. And it's... the Londo and G'Kar dynamic that... Man, if I didn't know better, I'd honestly think JMS wrote this fic himself.

*HAPPY FLAIL*

Okay, that's all. Seriously.

THANK YOU AGAIN, AUTHOR. YOU'LL PROBABLY GET EVEN MORE SQUEE ONCE I COMMENT TO THE STORY.
dizmo: (nsync: chris jubilation)
I so rarely post quiz results, but... really. I wasn't even TRYING for him.

Which fantasy writer am I? :D )

... I really need a WoT icon.
dizmo: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace icon: "I know writers who use subtext and they're all cowards." (darkplace: writers who use subtext)
*massive wavings, first and foremost, to my newly-added fellow tag wranglers*

So yes, major piece of news is that pretty much as soon as I got my AO3 open beta account (I managed to snag number 7 in the queue, because, really, I'm just that awesome), I volunteered for the tag wrangling crew.

I pretty much anti-regret it. It's beyond fun and we're all crazy and awesome with just a hint of the necessary OCD required to wrangle those darn wuzzles, so... yes. Good times!

And I seem to be picking up new fandoms whenever I sneeze. No, I did not mean that literally.

I will admit that jumping face first into that is a large contributing factor why I utterly dropped the ball on a new [livejournal.com profile] fortycakes prompt for this week. By the time I looked up from that and the three semi-overnights I was working, I looked up, and... uh, it was this morning. But there will be a new prompt come Sunday, honest to goodness.

I'm in the middle of canon-refreshing for Yuletide. It's going a tad bit more slowly than I had anticipated, but it's also totally reminding me why I love the fandom in question in the first place.

Other major news of the day... I'm actually biting the bullet and taking a couple classes again next semester. I think the break from school was really what I needed, but everything runs its course in the long run, and I think I'm going to be happy with it. *knocks on wood*

Back to the first bit of news, I have to say it's kind of fun having a conversation with your mother in which you attempt to explain tag wrangling. Including as a bit of a humorous anecdote the massive conversation on the mailing list concerning synonyms for fellatio. XD

Aaaand I think that about covers it for now. I'm crossposting this one to LJ, just because it's also a post I would have made over there as well, although I'm still on the fence about whether or not to make the official move. We'll see.
dizmo: Firefly: Jayne's cunning hat. (firefly: jayne cunning hat)
Yeah, I'm posting this because the segment of the journal devoted to the entries isn't even as long as the sidebar, leaving this empty gap that made me a bit >.o

So I don't really have much to say.

I'm waiting on tenterhooks for the Yuletide assignments to go out. Yulechat is amusing me in the meantime. (I mean, there was talk of My Little Pony orgies, AND I manipped Sammy Sosa's head onto Liberace's body.)

It's Friday the 13th! So far today, [personal profile] tyriangalley managed to burn her foot at work, and my boyfriend managed to shock himself on an arcade game component, also at work. I'm not superstitious, but... I think I'm kind of lucky I don't work today.

The Bears make me headdesk repeatedly, by the way. Cutler tossed five interceptions last night. Two in the red zone. One with five seconds left in the game that would have let us WIN IT if it had been, y'know, thrown to one of our guys.

Wheee AO3 goes open beta tonight. And I should totally be awake still when it comes time for the queue.

Uh, that's all. This entry should be sufficient for my nitpicky satisfaction.
dizmo: It's a carp. With a halo. Holy carp. (misc: holy carp)
I am actually making a journalpost over here. Not that I hardly ever do to my LJ, so... yeah. Don't expect me to become crazyprolific all of a sudden. XD So have some randomness!

So, yes. Really can't wait for my Yuletide assignment. I have to wait like a week of course, but... aaagh, I have no patience.

Really really kinda hope I end up paying out the grand prize for my [livejournal.com profile] fortycakes ULTRAMEGACHALLENGE, despite how much work that would give me. I mean... that would be so epic.

My grandma's staying over at our house for a while. At least through the holidays (and her 95th birthday!). Which is good and less good at the same time. Good because I love her to death and all, less good just because it...really kinda messes with routines a little. But this is definitely a case of the good outweighing the bad and all, so yay!

I inadvertently bit into a patch of mold on a tangerine the other night. EWWWWW.

I've kinda gotten into City of Heroes lately. Was doing some missions with my boyfriend and was so amused at the nerdity of the developers. Can we say rescuing Lois Watson, Peter Kent. and Jon "Booster" Rhodes? And getting Tony Kord as a contact? Bwahahahaha. Ah, good times.

Anyway, that's all for now, I'll be signing off! Until... whenever!
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (Default)
Figures. Now that [community profile] scans_daily's possibly moving to DW, I now finally have an excuse to actually do something with this thing.

Good times, great oldies.

That made no sense. Oh well!
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (comics - public enemies: bats/supes wedd)
Well, okay, in fairness, I started well before LJ was down, but... loved the DVD SOMUCH I had to make...

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies icons! ... Lots of them!

They're not crazysophisticated or anything, just pretty much cap and crop, but still, they're not bad. :) I hope.

Feel free to take, yes, feel free to add text or colorfilters or whatever you want, just comment and credit as usual blah blah blah.

They're mostly in order just from scenes I kinda pecked at, except for a lump at the end when I realized HOLY CRAP I FORGOT AN AWESOME SCENE.

If there are any requests, feel free to let me know, as making these isn't exactly difficult. XD

... Right, anyway, here goes.

Total Icon Count: 62

Well, I managed to add a few sentences (and delete a comma) on a fic I've got that's been stalled for... a while. It's like pulling teeth, I swear, but I at least feel somewhat accomplished for getting that much done.

It probably doesn't help that this sucker isn't really like anything I've ever written before. It's like... An AU that... isn't an AU? Or... a non-AU that is an AU? ... I'm not even sure.

Right, basically, it's DCU movieverse fic written as if I lived in the verse. Like... Writing RPF about superheroes (because I totally would, duh).

And I have oodles of ideas for later in the fic, which is awesome, but I HAVE TO GET THERE FIRST, because I really really suck at writing nonsequentially. And I have to remember what I can actually feasibly know about these guys... while still being close enough to the characters to make them recognizable.

It's fun when I manage to get things actually done, but the doing is... it's slogtastic.

That's not even a word, I don't really care.

BUT WOO, I really do feel accomplished for getting that little bit done in the first place. I really do need to keep it up. Silly writing and its silliness.

Right, first real post in ages, and it's not even really all that interesting. XD

Oh well, carry on with your normal lives!
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (other - facepalm)
Right, well, first of all, and completely unrelated to the rest of this post, but it's kind of obligatory, given that it's me. HBP. Utter win. Not enough Snape. But that's usual.

ANYWAY.

I've been spending entirely too much time lately over at the Trek reboot kink meme ([livejournal.com profile] st_xi_kink). As it is epic and wonderful and kinda awesome.

I also noticed that a lot of my favorite fics in the thing are of the crossover-with-other-fandoms variety.

So it got me thinking.

... So I went and made a crossover-fic kink meme. And [livejournal.com profile] xover_kink. Because, one, you can never have too many kink memes...

And two.. hey, a kink meme with any fandom welcome! (RPF included, for those bandom-ites on my flist.)

So, yeah, if you have a deep dark fantasy involving Captain Jack Sparrow making out with Captain Jack Harkness, or anything of the like... Hey, never know, might want to check it out. :D

And that ends my pimping for the day. (I don't do it very often, so I figure I'm entitled!)
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (other - zomgwtf)
I woke up a bit prematurely today. WHEN MY PILLOWCASE OR SOMETHING SCRAPED AGAINST MY EYEBALL.

Right, so it's annoying and all watery... And I now have gauze over the thing and it's taped up.

... I FEEL LIKE A PIRATE! ARRRRRRRRRRRRR.

PD <--- Pirate smiley, of course.

Although, I must say that is probably the most surreal call-out I have ever had to work.
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (firefly - downright unsettling)
[Error: unknown template qotd]

My first ever LJpost was back on my old journal.

'Okay. I got this livejournal thingie. Hurrah. Um... Right. Happy, guys? I am absolutely insane. Les Mis is going through my head like nobody's business. Of course, insanity is just par for the course with me, I guess. :P Okay. My guess is that that's enough for now. Yep. '

April 9. 2001.

Holy. Crap.

That's a lot of time.

I'm gonna go feel old now.
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (darkplace - hurts)
And by all means, feel free to elaborate in comments. :)

[Poll #1382121]

Yes, so I have actually written comicfic. Which funnily enough is not what I was planning that my first comicfic would be. But the bunny started gnawing on my brain and wouldn't let go. Darn bunnies.

So I posted it to my writing journal which I haven't actually used in over a year. Go me. XD

Booster Goldilocks and the Three Superheroes.

It's a light and sweet fairytale, with a strong moral message! And...

Okay, it's just crack. Nevermind.

Anyone out there willing to beta a fairly short DC universe kind-of-crack fic?

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

THERE'S FAIRY TALES.
