Okay. Managed to somewhat organize my thoughts.

Not all that in-depth, but...

Well. That was. Well. My reaction to the book isn't gonna be nearly so in-depth or interesting as a lot of the analysis floating around, and, really, won't contain anything new.. and, in fact, the last half or so is gonna focus largely on.. well.. how I'm gonna deal with the book in [livejournal.com profile] desperatefans, on account of PLAYING SNAPE, AND EVERYTHING. Ahem. But here we go.

If R.A.B. isn't Regulus Black... yeah, whatever.

Once Slughorn was introduced as a former head of Slytherin, I should have KNOWN Snape would be, ah.. making some kind of exit. Because.. yo, replacement. ;)

So. Tobias and Eileen. Not exactly what I expected Sev's parents to be named. But I kinda like it.

Snape's house! Books! Wine! Random hexing of Wormtail to get his ass to stop eavesdropping! Ahahahah!

Scrimgour... you can blow me. Really.

All the relationships? Well.. okay, whatever. ;)

Snape killing Dumbledore. Or as I've referred to it in spoiler-free areas.. "OMG! SPOILER SPOILERED SPOILER!" I am of the school of thought that says Snape's a good guy still, and it was totally at Dumbledore's request. (If anyone hasn't read the various much-better-written justifications of that theory, I'll link upon request.) Poor Snape's gonna have a real rough go of it come book seven, but.. I think he's going to have a huge part in the eventuall downfall of Voldie. And, of course, once again, Harry goes and leaps to the easiest conclusion to make. I think that's even giving Dumbledore less credit that he deserves, but then... When you see your old-wise-mentor get killed IN FRONT OF YOU, you're not likely to analyze it to the degree that readers will.

And he's the Half-Blood Prince! That one floored me. In retrospect, I probably could have foreseen it, but.. Well, I didn't. This was such a Snape-a-riffic book in general. Woo.

Okay. And now, non-DF-ers can probably ignore the rest, unless you're particularly interested in how HBP's gonna affect my characterization.

In one month, Sevvie is going to.. suddenly become a much less popular guy. ;) I mean, hey, yeah, on the one hand.. he really isn't gonna have to worry much about Voldie coming after him anymore, but... Yeah. And can I say angst? Yes. I thought I could. When you have to kill the only person you ever really actually trusted... Yeah. He's not really going to contest the vitriol that I'm sure's gonna arise over this, because he pretty much agrees with it.

That, and he's gonna be a whole lot more careful over what times he drops by chat, and who's there, because.. Really. ;) And somehow.. I get the idea that he's gonna get kicked out of [livejournal.com profile] df_orderhq. Caaaaaaaall it a hunch. *grin*
