Talk about your eventful mornings..
Okay! So my radio station has commenced a contest this week called Download the Dough. (Ever so clever, those radio stations..)
Basically, three times a day, they have a call-in cue, and caller number 10 gets to play.
What happens is they start up this computer program thingie, which goes as follows... '103 dollars... 125 dollars... 150 dollars...' And so on and so forth..
The caller goes 'Stop!' when they feel like it. And they win that much money.
Why on earth would they stop it?
At some undisclosed time, it'll stop growing and jump to 50 bucks. And that's all you win.
So, yeah.
Anyhoo, 7:30 this morning, I'm getting ready, and they have their morning call in. I decide to shoot for it.
It's busy a couple times... Ladee da.
I finally get a ring. I mentally time it... Dude, it's about right for me to be caller ten.
Phone answered. 'Hello?'
Me.. 'Hello?'
A pause. 'What caller am I?'
'You are... caller... ten!'
Sweet. I have a guaranteed fiddy bucks, right there, yo!
So they ask my name, blah, blah, ask if I'm ready to start the game.. I say yes..
Going INTO this, I was like.. If I get through, I'll stop at 200. Flat. I'd be quite happy with that.
Of course, when you plan like that, you don't contend with nervousness getting you.
So here's how it goes.
I hit the pound key to start the sucker..
"103 dollars..."
*take deep breath*
"125 dollars..."
*thinking... oh geez...*
"150 dollars..."
*thinking... God, this is getting nervewracking...*
"175 dollars.."
*Oh, screw 200* Stop.
So... Erin wins 175 bucks!
*dance!*
They're all congratulations yayfun, what are you gonna do with the money.. I'm like.. Um.. Yeah, no clue.. *pause... now I think maybe I should go see Timberlake in Memphis...*
Anyhoo, they ask how much I thought mighta been in there, and I'm like.. I'm not sure.
So they go and play the rest of the thing to see how far it woulda gone..
"Two hundred dollars."
"Fifty dollars."
So I was 25 short of the maximum I coulda won.
Which was actually what I was GONNA stop at.
But... Yeah. Nervousness.
But... regardless..
Money! Cash! Weeeha!
They'll call me when the check comes in, they say it takes about two weeks.
Wooha.
*dance*
