Okay. Vacation.

I'm back. And it's time to go on and on about the two or so weeks I was gone. Fun stuff. Most of it'll likely be devoted to the first weekend, but... anyhoo.

We headed out on the 20th. I slept some in the car but couldn't very much as I recall. Excitement and a half a billion RP ideas in my head that I wrote down. That night, I got a few hours sleep. I couldn't sleep too well THEN either, which was fun, as I refused to sleep the night before because I WANTED to sleep in the car. Blah.

Oh well. Now as for Saturday and Sunday. Brian's rendition was good, so you'll be hearing a lot of the same from me, but a bit more stuff that he left out. And stuff. This is taken almost verbatim from my trip journal, which is more like occasional random sentences such as 'Free the Pop Tarts'... twice. This is the longest actual entry in the thing. ;)

I had an incredible first weekend. Quite the blast. Woot! Brian and his cousin Bobby arrived at the hotel practically at the same time we did (BOTH parties had quite the time attempting to find the place. Getting lost in Austin would prove to be a trend...). That was pretty cool. The three of us chilled in their room for a while, discovering both a burned hole in their lampshade, and the fact that the TV wouldn't work without turning on the lightswitch. That was fairly amusing. And it had only just begun.

Kyra had left a message for Brian at the front desk (the people wrote 'Brain Zednick' on the actual note...) for us to call her at 5, so after watching a little TV, we headed out to the mall. We enjoyed ourselves well enough, and stuff, although my new shoes began hurting my feets. And then, on the way back to the motel, we got utterly lost. Heheheh. Well, we get back pretty much just in time to call Kyra. Which I did. Bobby at least was rather surprised that I had her number memorized. The number of times I've called her... *ahem* Anyhoo. She said she was gonna be out 'til about midnight. So we decided to go order a pizza... until my mom and dad offered to treat us to Mexican at the little Mexican place right next door to the motel. (Impossible to get lost! Yaaay!) Anyway, we go there to eat. Mom and Dad, to their credit, don't overly embarrass me! Yay!

Anyway, then we watch s'more TV. 'Holy Man' was on. Quite funny. Liked! Then we saw an episode of Spin City. Also funny. Especially when a comment was made to Michael J. Fox about needing a time machine. Bri and each other looked at each other and were like, 'DeLorean!'... Then we wasched Clue. For a little while.

Then Kyra called. Brrrrriiiiing! So we head over to her house... and get utterly lost. End up downtown. See the capitol building. That was pretty cool. We eventually get there and talk for a bit on the front step. Of course, I was attempting to carry all of my stuff, and once I GOT to said front step, I dumped my portable CD player on the ground. Delightful first impression. *ahem* Anyhoo, Kyra's about to collapse on the front step, so we go inside after wishing goodbye to the guys. We stay up for a half hour or so before finally going to bed. I was sleeping on this rolling trundle. Every time I got onto it, it like.. rolled... (surprising. :P) Pretty funky!

The next day, we wake up, I wave at her... and we both go back to sleep. This is about at 6 AM. We wake up for real at 9, and Kyra goes to take a shower. Only to discover that the water doesn't appear to want to RUN to the shower. I go and look... and concur with her assessment. We consult her mother... who had turned off the shower head the night before cuz it was dripping. Problem solved!

So we take showers, eat Crispix, and drink cranberry juice. We then return to her room. I get to see her char scrapbooks and listen to the CD of a performance she'd had on the radio 2 days prior. We then do a 2 person performance of Into the Woods, splitting the parts equally. I rock at the Witch's rap. Although it's exhausting! :P It was pretty cool. She calls Emma and discovers that she isn't feeling well, so won't be able to chill with us. :(

Well, we watch an episode of B5 that we'd both seen but she happened to have on tape, until the guys show up around noon. We go to a neato burrito place, have burritos, and then we go to the grocery store and liberate a box of frosted strawberry Pop Tarts. Hehehehe. We then go buy some headphones for Kyra's CD player, and return to the house (at this point, my feet are killing me, and I just take off my shoes halfway back) and watch some B5 eps that either Kyra or I had missed and that Brian brought, eating Pop Tarts all the while. Oh! In the window next to Kyra's TV, a gecko had taken up residence. It was eating the bugs, so they let it stay, and put water out for it. It was cute. Anyhoo, back to B5. At one point, Kyra had to get the phone, so we paused the tape... right at a point when Londo had this expression on his face that he was about to launch into a pirate shanty.

Well, after B5, the guys get to go look at the stuff in her room. We then go out for ice cream. Tasty ice cream. I get Butter Pecan. Which oddly enough has no pecans in it. So I guess it's just Butter. We return to Kyra's house briefly. We then go out to the park, again with me carrying my shoes, and play Frisbee. I, in short, suck. Badly. I don't catch ONE for the LONGEST time. Of course, I was playing with no shoes. ANd there were dog droppings out there! After we get utterly exhausted and hot, we go to the playset, sit down on it, and chill, talking and fanning each other with the frisbee.

We then return back to Kyra's place, where her mother gives us ice water. It was very very nice. My mom coincidentally calls then to see what's up, and the three of us wish Kyra goodbye (as she had to eat dinner....) and head back- surprisingly NOT getting lost! They drop me off, and talk to mom and dad for a while. Then leave. Very fun. And then while sleeping in the car the next day, I had a weird dream that Brian and I were hanging out in my back yard. Peculiar.

Anyhoo, that's the first weekend. And the rest of the trip won't take that long. Promise. ;) Brian's got his pictures done, too. They're up here. I look like a dork.

Anyhoo, we leave Austin, and eventually get to Vegas. ;) It turns out that our hotel is hosting an 'alternative lifestyles' convention. Mostly swingers and stuff. Ew. I have never seen fewer clothes on more unattractive people in my life... And don't even ASK about the stuff going on in the pool area. Eeegh. I don't have my brother there to hang out with, but I go it alone. The first day, I chill in the room and watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I liked. The second day, I take the tram over to Mandalay Bay and see the Shark Reef exhibit. Tres cool. The tram is not running on the way back cuz of a rainstorm. I walk back. I hurt my foot somehow. By the time I'm crossing from New York, New York to MGM Grand, my foot's all... spasming. It sucks. And I'm wearing my MOM's shoes. Blah. Anyhoo, I limp to our room and watch TV. The next day, my foot still hurts, but I'm intelligent enough to walk a mile and a quarter over to the Forum Shops at Caesar's. The walk THERE isn't bad. The walk back... not cool. That night, dad drives me over to a net cafe. I enjoy myself. ;)

The next day, I... pretty much chill in the room all day again. Except for meals. I go back to the net cafe again that night.

The next day, I'm okay enough to pretty much cross the street and hang out at the Luxor for a while. I see the Big 'N Sync IMAX movie... (ahem)... get a caricature done, eat some food, and head back. That night, dad and I go back to Luxor and watch the Blue Man Group. Tres awesome! I liked muchly. The day after, I do... something.. for most of the day. Dunno. Think I hang out in the room more, mostly. We watch the Cubs game on ESPN... and then go over to Excalibur to catch the Tournament of Kings. Eating food with your hands while watching studly jousts and stuff. And, in another small tiny coincidence that makes me think that when I go see Les Mis on Saturday, we happened to be assigned to the cheering section for the king of... France! We spent most of the night yelling Vive la France! Mucho coolness!!!

Well, the next day, we're due to leave, but mom and dad wanna gamble more, so I head back to the Luxor and... do something I'd had my eye on. A Karaoke music video booth. So now I have a tape of me singing Savage Garden's Crash and Burn very very badly in front of a techno background. I haven't actually watched it yet. I'm scared to.

Well, then we leave, and start heading back. We don't get any farther than Mesquite, Nevada that day, which doesn't at all surprise me. I watch TV, they gamble, we leave THERE, and we're back in two days. Which is now. And THAT, my friends... is my vacation.

Minor points.

I picked up this lifelike little racoon puppet thing with a spring in it that I've wanted for 9 years or so now at the Forum Shops. Mom wouldn't get it for me when it was 15 bucks. I got it when it was 35. Bleh.

Les Mis is coming to Vegas in September. It's playing at the Aladdin. My opinion? It should play at the Paris. It'd be more appropriate. ;)

I had fun. Despite doing a lot of sleeping in the car.

There. The end. If I come up with more, it'll come later.
