El Schmoop-o of Ridiculousness-o

A conversation with beauxRainee inspired me to write a little Choey ficlet.

The Saturday Morning Sage

Joey yawned softly as he walked down the hallway. He scratched quickly at his stomach and entered the living room. Chris was sprawled on the couch with a bowl of Froot Loops, watching Saturday morning cartoons. It was pretty much a routine. Once he saw Joey entered, he looked up with a smile.

Of course, it wasn't just any smile. Joey groaned to himself. This was the 'I'm waxing philosophic about our relationship as is related to children's programming again!' smile. Lovely. Chris waved. "Morning!"

Joey exhaled softly. Might as well get this over with. He flopped down on the recliner. "Morning, Chris. What's up?"

"I've been thinking!"

Of course you have. "Oh?"

"Yeah! See, I was watching TV..."

And I decided that the Ninja Turtles training exercises were the perfect metaphor for the finer parts of good gay sex! "And?"

"And I figured out exactly who we're most like."

Joey arched an eyebrow. "Please tell me you haven't decided that I'm Aladdin and you're Princess Jasmine again. Because, I mean, the dressing up thing sounded cool, but it really kinda freaked me out, man.."

Chris grinned and shook his hips a bit from his seated position, miraculously not spilling his Froot Loops. "But I look good in silk, baby.." A slight giggle escaped just before Joey could throw something at his head. "Nah, man.."

"Okay, what's your theory this time?"

"We're Timon and Pumbaa!"

Joey blinked. "Like.. from The Lion King?"

"Of course! I'm the short dude who wisecracks all the time and is Of Perpetual Snark.."

Joey wrinkled his brow and frowned. "And I'm the big fat dumb pig who farts all the time?"

Chris winked playfully. "Well, yeah, but that's not why I made the comparison."

Joey sighed slightly. "Then do enlighten me, my good meerkat friend."

Nodding, Chris held up a finger on each hand. "See, Timon and Pumbaa... They couldn't be more different. But, they still mean the world to each other. I mean.. Just constantly. Always looking out for each other. Doing for the other one what they can't do for themselves... Hell, man, Timon and Pumbaa are willing to risk certain death for each other! They're inseperable."

Joey allowed himself a slight smile. "Yeah, but I'm still the big fat dumb pig who farts all the time."

Chris grinned over at him. "Nah, man. You're the one with the best and biggest heart." He then returned his attention to the TV as the commercial break ended.

Joey swallowed once, getting up to get himself a bowl of cereal, too. And maybe- but he wouldn't admit it- to wipe a tear or two.

Maybe Saturday morning cartoons taught a hell of a lot, after all.
