Upgrades 'n' Things

So I went ahead and bit a bullet a couple days ago. I ordered an upgraded phone.

I'm an iPhone user and I tend to skip a few generations at a time as I've never really been the type to Always Need The New Hotness when it comes to stuff like this. Phones last a while, after all.

I currently have an iPhone 11, and the only reason I got that one was because the 7 I had before ended up being, back in 2019, the first phone I actually damaged when I realized I didn't know where I'd put it, went around looking for it, came back to my desk to double check if I had just stuck it in a strange corner I don't normally use, sat... and heard a crunch. It had somehow fallen and ended up under a leg of my desk chair. Ooops.

So the 14 lineup was revealed and I was intrigued but dithered a bit. Then I realized that I should probably upgrade when the trade-in value for my current phone's still decent enough, so I pulled the trigger. Of course, the one I wanted (14 Pro, 256gig)... was not currently available at any Apple Store in town and I wasn't desperate enough to drive to California for pickup. :P Therefore, I've got an order placed and it'll be arriving near the end of the month. So hey, something to look forward to!

Speaking of upgrades, no way I could fit this story into 280 characters. Suck it, Elon.

Hey, look, I'm posting!

I mean, it's always going to be few and far between, but I'm always gonna be hovering around DW anyway, whether it's just hovering around my reading page or, posting Yuletide letters in the fall, or, y'know, moderating intoabar. (Signups opened today if you're in the urge to create a randomly generated crossover!)

I did like doing my live reactions to What If a few months back. I knew odds of my doing the same with Hawkeye were slim to none just because I knew I'd be way too engrossed to actually stop and type (which I was, so fabulous), but I wish I'd been doing my blathering along to Moon Knight and it seems a little late now with just one episode to go (and it's a super compelling show, A++ will watch again).

Fingers crossed that, come Ms. Marvel's release, I remember again. It's a fun exercise and MUCH easier to reference back to than twitter. :P

Don't have anything terribly much to say. I was just already here so I was like MIGHT AS WELL POST.

So one of my tires has had a leak for a few weeks now...

... and I finally had time to go get it looked at today.

I took it in, told them that if it was fixable, then fix it, but if it wasn't, I was perfectly ready to get replacements (for both tires on the axle, since you want to keep things balanced).

Aaaand... turns out it was able to be repaired!

It's kind of amazing how sometimes not spending money feels magically like earning money.
