2012 fic roundup!

Moving on. This is probably the first year ever that I actually wrote enough to really justify an end-of-year fic meme. So, shamelessly stolen from![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

Starting with the objective stats...
Total stories: 14.25 (2012 saw chapter one in a four chapter WIP, but not chapters 2-4.)
Total word count: 21,954
Average word count per story: 1,541
Average word count per month: 1,830
Longest story: Lifeline: 5,130 words
Shortest story: Last to Know: 237 words
Fandoms: 2 (Thank you, yuletide.)
Pairings: 2 (I was rescued solely by having backup Tony/Steve in one of them. Because, y'know, C/C.)
My favorite story of mine this year: The Adventures of Captain America and Phil, by Phil Coulson, Age 7. Absolutely no doubt in my mind. It was a freaking treat to do and probably the only case in which my art skills would ever have been suitable to illustrate my own work. :b
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Believers. Yuletide genfic focussing on a platonic (if one-sidedly-pining-ly) relationship between two awesome characters when there were three fics in the exchange slashing them? It was never destined to be a hit-a-palooza.
Most fun story: The Adventures of Cap and Phil again. The only part of the entire process of that thing that wasn't fun was probably the wrist ache I got from simulating crayon coloring with a mouse, but even that was utterly worth it.
Most sexy story: ... This is hard to answer, because I didn't write anything above a T-rating all year. (Go me.) Nevertheless, vampires are sexy, so I'll have to give it to my vampire!Phil series. Out of those, I'll probably give it to Cutting It Close, because it legitimately has the most intimate moment in the series to date, and somehow manages to be a bit sexy despite taking place in profoundly unsexy circumstances.
Story with single sweetest moment: I think I'll give it to the end of Biggest Fan. It's a touch wistful, but it's a sweet kind of wistful.
Most unintentionally *telling* story: This feels like a cop-out, but I don't really know that I can answer this one. I suppose my crackfics are telling in a different way, but if anyong didn't know I was a bit off my gourd at times, they weren't paying attention, and there was absolutely nothing unintentional about the weirdness-level.
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: ... actually came in 2011. I think I wrote enough that year that my perceptions kind of solidified to a degree that I was writing off of them in '12. Who knows what 2013 will bring, though.
Biggest disappointment: It was honestly disappointment with myself when I stalled on Past Is Prologue for seven freaking months. There's just no excuse for that.
Biggest surprise: The reception that Quarantines Are Not As Advertised got. It was easily my story with the most hits for 2012 and had the most kudos until Cap and Phil came along. The real surprise is that I honestly consider the thing cute, done well enough, and serviceable, but not anything knock-you-down stunning. I think I might give the blame to the background Tony/Steve, because other than that, I have absolutely no idea what caused it.
Hardest story to write: Look two questions up. See the 'stalled for seven months' part? Yeah. That.
Easiest story to write: Weirdly enough, I think I'm gonna give it to Biggest Fan. It just tumbled out of my fingers on a wave of pheels after I'd been (thankfully!) spoiled for events in Avengers but before I saw the movie, even if it took a while after that to post.
This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most: Not technically a story, but the answer to this is self-evident. I am the Very Model of a Hawkeye/Coulson Devotee. Need I say more?
