First thing's first, as it's reveal day and all...

Massive thanks to [archiveofourown.org profile] floraheart for my exceptionally fabulous Yuletide fic, and to [archiveofourown.org profile] who_la_hoop, [archiveofourown.org profile] laura47, and [archiveofourown.org profile] McTabby for my delightful madness ficlets! All of them are linked here for anyone who missed them.

Moving on. This is probably the first year ever that I actually wrote enough to really justify an end-of-year fic meme. So, shamelessly stolen from [personal profile] shadowen, here we go!

Starting with the objective stats...
Total stories: 14.25 (2012 saw chapter one in a four chapter WIP, but not chapters 2-4.)
Total word count: 21,954
Average word count per story: 1,541
Average word count per month: 1,830
Longest story: Lifeline: 5,130 words
Shortest story: Last to Know: 237 words
Fandoms: 2 (Thank you, yuletide.)
Pairings: 2 (I was rescued solely by having backup Tony/Steve in one of them. Because, y'know, C/C.)

On to the much more subjective questions )
dizmo: Comic sound effect-like 'NERD!' (misc: nerd!)
First of all...

NerdTests.com says I'm a Cool Nerd Queen. Click here to take the Nerd Test, get geeky images and jokes, and write on the nerd forum!

I am a bit shocked that there is any way shape or form that I could be considered 'cool', but I'll take it.

Anyway, as of late I've been sucked into the joy and amazing that is feelschat. ... Er, an AIM blast group of Clint/Coulson fans, and oh my God, talk about full of fun and bouncy and mutual fangirling and the occasional okay frequent sometimes large buckets of angst, and everything is beautiful and somehow sometimes everything hurts at the same time. But I'm rambling.

It's done wonders for my fic productivity, although I don't know if the couple little ficlets I did just to share with chat will ever reach wider distribution. That remains to be seen. First, I work on the thing I've been poking at for ages. One step at a time.

Last night, I spent a hefty chunk of time going through my really ancient LJ entries... like, from my very first journal and everything, and wow... 'Was I ever that young?' comes to mind. XD

In other news... Well, there really isn't much in the way of other news. BUT HELLO ANYONE WHO'S READING THIS, YOU ROCK. :D
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (comics - booster tentacles)
... I'm posting again? What madness is this?

Anyway, a fic porn fic meme that I much belatedly swiped from half my flist, copied directly from [livejournal.com profile] blindmadness.

01 » Submit a pairing (or threesome, or solo person) and a prompt by replying to this post.

02 » Please use the following format: fandom, pairing, prompt.

03 » I'll then reply with five sentences of smut. As I'm pasting from Maj, she went on to say that the original meme allows gen prompts and the like. I'm returning that caveat because I'm a complete coward willing to branch out my porn-writing muscles as best I can, but it's really not my forte, and please don't be mad at me if I somehow cannot manage to porn up your prompt. I will try my best!

04 » If I can't do the prompt then I will beg for your forgiveness, and offer it up to others let you select another if you'd like. [Though if anyone on my flist sees one they'd like to do that I've passed up, seriously, go for it!] And I add the further caveat that I warn you now up-front that I have this annoying tendency to flake on fic-memes like you wouldn't believe, but I will do my best to at least muster up a ficlet for at least one of everyone's prompts.

That being said... multiple prompts encouraged! :D

This is where I am supposed to list my fandoms but oh GOD I have so many. Generally, if you know I'm into something, feel free to prompt from it, but I'll go ahead and shortlist DC comics, Harry Potter, BBC Sherlock, Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Les Mis, and... I dunno, anthropomorphic kitchen tools. :D
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (comics - supes RRRRRRRR!!!)
Well, I managed to add a few sentences (and delete a comma) on a fic I've got that's been stalled for... a while. It's like pulling teeth, I swear, but I at least feel somewhat accomplished for getting that much done.

It probably doesn't help that this sucker isn't really like anything I've ever written before. It's like... An AU that... isn't an AU? Or... a non-AU that is an AU? ... I'm not even sure.

Right, basically, it's DCU movieverse fic written as if I lived in the verse. Like... Writing RPF about superheroes (because I totally would, duh).

And I have oodles of ideas for later in the fic, which is awesome, but I HAVE TO GET THERE FIRST, because I really really suck at writing nonsequentially. And I have to remember what I can actually feasibly know about these guys... while still being close enough to the characters to make them recognizable.

It's fun when I manage to get things actually done, but the doing is... it's slogtastic.

That's not even a word, I don't really care.

BUT WOO, I really do feel accomplished for getting that little bit done in the first place. I really do need to keep it up. Silly writing and its silliness.

Right, first real post in ages, and it's not even really all that interesting. XD

Oh well, carry on with your normal lives!
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (other - facepalm)
Right, well, first of all, and completely unrelated to the rest of this post, but it's kind of obligatory, given that it's me. HBP. Utter win. Not enough Snape. But that's usual.

ANYWAY.

I've been spending entirely too much time lately over at the Trek reboot kink meme ([livejournal.com profile] st_xi_kink). As it is epic and wonderful and kinda awesome.

I also noticed that a lot of my favorite fics in the thing are of the crossover-with-other-fandoms variety.

So it got me thinking.

... So I went and made a crossover-fic kink meme. And [livejournal.com profile] xover_kink. Because, one, you can never have too many kink memes...

And two.. hey, a kink meme with any fandom welcome! (RPF included, for those bandom-ites on my flist.)

So, yeah, if you have a deep dark fantasy involving Captain Jack Sparrow making out with Captain Jack Harkness, or anything of the like... Hey, never know, might want to check it out. :D

And that ends my pimping for the day. (I don't do it very often, so I figure I'm entitled!)
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (comics - supes: creepy)
Yes, so I have actually written comicfic. Which funnily enough is not what I was planning that my first comicfic would be. But the bunny started gnawing on my brain and wouldn't let go. Darn bunnies.

So I posted it to my writing journal which I haven't actually used in over a year. Go me. XD

Booster Goldilocks and the Three Superheroes.

It's a light and sweet fairytale, with a strong moral message! And...

Okay, it's just crack. Nevermind.
dizmo: A simplified blob-like illustration of me. (comics - supes: creepy)
Anyone out there willing to beta a fairly short DC universe kind-of-crack fic?

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

THERE'S FAIRY TALES.

AND SUBTEXT.

AND POTENTIAL FUTURE UNDERWEAR SURVEILLANCE.

Oh, Lord.

I have not done a substantive journalpost in ages. I dunno, it might be because I think my life is kinda... silly-like uninteresting and nobody would particularly care.

But I'll do a handful of just... random musings.

I was a bit sneezy today. But now all of a sudden, I'm HELLA CONGESTED. That is so amazingly UNCOOL.

My birthday? Was fabulous. Andrew (my boyfriend. Who, I know, I also haven't blogged about, really, which... I really need to do that, since we've been dating since, like... April? ... Okay, yeah, that's sad. BUT LATER.) got me flowerrrrrs. And like the most awesomest card ever.

... Although I think if this snuffleness is a cold, I got it from him, so... there's a TRADE-OFF, here.

I have signed up for MTYG and Yuletide. And will be attempting NaNo again. I'm insane. :b

I have become somewhat addicted to Batman/Superman slash. ... Yeah.

WTF Cubs.

But I'm nominally rooting for the Phillies, insofar as I ever follow baseball after we're eliminated.

Um.... Adopt one today! <--- Click my dragon egg? Please? :D :D :D

I have no idea how it's almost November already. I'm not entirely sure where June went yet.

fgasdkasdf I get back to work from my laze-about-at-home vacation on Friday. ... And Monday night is the start of holiday changeouts. Glaaaaaaaaah.

I have the urge to write fic of some kind. I just have no idea what. This is most annoying.

Doesn't it just figure that this past Sunday, what will probably be my only Sunday off during football season, was the Bears' bye week?

Why do I seem more broke lately than usual?

I can't help the feeling that I'm seriously missing some topic I wanted to talk about, but I can't for the life of me imagine what it might be.

... I might do another randomness post of some kind later. If you have anything you wanna see in it, feel free to request it in a comment. :D Maybe it'll even be whatever it was I forgot about! :D
dizmo: (df - three puppets)

Ahem.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] yuletide Santa,

Really. I'm not that hard to please at all. That's why my demands tend to be fairly nonspecific. I do like a bit of humor in my fics, but even that's not a hard-and-fast requirement if you absolutely can't manage it. I'm incredibly low maintenance like that. So, really, I can't go into too much more specifics than I put in my request.

All I really ask from you is that you treat the characters with respect. But whatever fandom of mine you're writing in, odds are you're a fan too, so I pretty well trust you in that regard. (Note, I don't say the characters have to treat each OTHER with respect, but I really don't like it when you can tell what characters an author can't stand because they write them too shallowly. I think you kinda know what I'm saying.)

But that's all, really. Thank you so so so so so much in advance for writing me a story in WHICHEVER fandom of those you choose, if you know more than one. I have no preference whatsoever.

Your extremely easy-to-please recipient,
[livejournal.com profile] dizmo

Okay, so. I'm obviously a masochist. I just went and signed up for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. So, between NaNo, and Yuletide, and DWNOGA...

Come Christmas, I'm never going to want to type another word ever.

But with any luck, I'll get some fun fiction out of it.

I hope.

*fingercross*
dizmo: (nano - ask me 06)
Okay, so I'm probably one of the last people on the planet to get this done, but I have a NaNo journal up now.

[livejournal.com profile] misfiredsynapse, if you're interested in reading a crazy little YA thriller-with-a-bit-of-romance-that's-totally-based-off-of-an-actually-really-cool-RP-but-feel-free-to-ignore-that-bit.

If not, there, you can officially ignore it. :)

Okay, so!

DWNOGA authors have been revealed!

So I can finally officially say that the person who owns my soul for writing Cracking the Love Code is the wonderful and amazing [livejournal.com profile] adelate. Who received no fewer than three pieces of feedback from me the day stories went live, not counting my journal post, and probably would have received more had I not willfully sat on my hands and told myself that spamming my writer's inbox is not the best sign of lurve. ;)

My own story, Five, for [livejournal.com profile] sarahq, I have mixed feelings about. She liked it, and I'm ever so relieved about that, but I almost wish I could have done the bunny a bit more justice. Unfortunately, I got said bunny a bit too late in the game to really give it the workover it, and she, deserved, but for my first attempt at GSF, I don't think I did all that badly with it. So there we are.

......... Is it time for SeSa '06 yet?

Ahem.

dizmo: A picture of Chris and Justin from *NSYNC laughing, with 'Hee!' written on it. (nsync: timbertrick hee!)
Yes. I did just use the feedback mechanism to send my SeSa author a ridiculously gushing and effusive bit of feedback. Because... Best thing I ever woke up to, probably. Really.

ANYWAY.

Cracking the Love Code.

My story. Written by someone who either speaks to me on a rather frequent basis... *peeeers at her friendslist*, has done an excellent job of stalking my journal, has spoken to people who speak to me on a rather frequent basis, or... is a ridiculously good guesser.

Because it's a BOOKSTORE AU.

I can totally and completely relate to very large chunks of the story.

Okay, although I have never gotten asked out by a hot customer. Yet. Bah.

BUT. THE REST, MAN, THE REST....

Justin's life story! Through self-help books!

That stupid book that you thought you had but isn't in the system!

Manging to find it and doing a mental self-congratulatory dance while you hold it proudly over your head!

Those 'just browsing' people!

Andthentheywentbowling. Which is just SO CUTE. AAAAAAAAAAAH.

This is me in a transport of delight.

So go read. Like now. Don't stop. The end. Yes.

*flail around happylike*
dizmo: (df - never know)
Just over an hour left, and SeSa finally submitted.

That was... definitely a different experience than any year I'd done it up until now. I didn't even have a half-living bunny until, like, a week ago. And nothing really concrete until, like, the last couple days. I almost feel bad for it, and the story is shorter than most of my previous ones (although, I think, not all), but... I actually like it.

I surprised myself on this one, and there are definitely some bits that I'm actually pretty impressed with, so I just hope that my recipient likes it, and that it's at least pretty close to what she wanted. :)

If she didn't... well, I did my best with something I didn't think I'd be able to do at all, so.. yay to that. Or something.

And now I head to bed. ;)
dizmo: (nsync: chris jubilation)
As such, I would like to one-more-time-for-good-measure!!! thank [livejournal.com profile] ninjetti75 for my most delightful story, Here With You, I Have All That I Desire. It's just all kinds of sweet and wonderful.

And now I can also say in public that I wrote It Came From the Sky!!! Which I highly enjoyed doing, for the record. Because it's not every day you get to get to write something quite so humorously off-the-wall. So, really, thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] halimede for the request! (And for liking it, despite the fact that I've already thanked her for THAT roughly 472983421398473 times.)

Is it sad that I want SeSa '05 to start already? :b

Love.

I'm on all sorts of a big-ass posting kick today.

Now that the DWNOGA deadline has come and gone, I will take a deep breath and say... Wow, I really really have an unholy love for my story.  I am actually honest-to-God satisfied with it.  Which really makes me all kinds of happy and a half.  Because I could pick apart my last two rather brutally.  (Although I do like them both, on the average.  Just... no unholy love!)

I finished and submitted it early this afternoon, after a beta by my loverly [livejournal.com profile] beaux.  So I had it totally taken care of when I went to work..... (Which actually really felt kinda weird.  I was standing out at the lumber register, and later briefly at the return desk, without frantically writing more story on receipt tape!)  Talk about a weight off my mind.

And now...  I WANT IT TO BE CHRISTMAS EVE ALREADY MRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

But yes.  I think I quite admirably took care of my recipient's requests, despite initially having no idea how on earth I'd pull it off, had a hell of a fun time doing it, and despite my crazy night o' writing last night, am totally shot in the ass about it.

Life is pretty good right now, methinks.

Whew.

SeSa mostly done. At least to the point I can afford to sleep now.

Two-might-turn-to-three more scenes to write when I get up, then type up really quick, get a beta, get it submitted, go to work.

Or go to work, come home, submit it around 11:30-ish.

One or the other.

Either way, I'm gonna pull it off. Whew.

But... for now.... Too tired to write. So bed for me!
