Cubs won... 8-3.
Maximum three games left in this series..
We need to win one.
Which means if they get past Zambrano tomorrow, they have to beat both Prior AND Wood.
Sometime in the eighth, it really dawned on me...
The Cubs are going to be going to the fucking World Series.
ETA 10/5/08 9:38 am: Okay. Every rational cell in my brain is telling me that this is amazingly unnecessary. However. Five years later, and the Cubs have yet to so much as win a playoff game since I made this post. We promptly dropped the next three games of this particular series... in hideous fashion which I certainly do not need to recap. And then got swept out of the playoffs this year and last year. To the baseball gods.... I PROMISE I WILL NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN COUNT MY CHICKENS BEFORE THEY'RE HATCHED TO SUCH A DEGREE OF HUBRIS. PLZ RELEASE THE CUBS. Thank you. :)
